Ticket to Ride...
SDRYT members Stuart Watters and Martin Jones receive their Northern Rail travel passes in recognition of their involvement with the Bishop Trains, Bishop Auckland Station adoption scheme.
The SDRYT Annual Trip to Blackpool is taking place on Sunday 28th October 2012.
This year the trip will include a ride on the full route of the Blackpool Tramway which has recently undergone a major £100 million upgrade, with new trams, new stations and track.
Members will also get free time to explore Blackpool and the famous Illuminations, and of course, Blackpool Fish & Chips!
We are pleased to advise that our new host training organisation Chester-le-Track at Chester-le-Street Railway Station "went live" today with Stuart Watters becoming our first member to undergo work experience there.
During Stuart's first day he was trained in the use of Northern Rail's Cubic FasTIS ticket issuing system and processed telephone ticket orders and face-to-face sales for passengers using the busy commuter station.
A full training program has been developed by Station Master Alex Nelson and a further 7 days of work experience has been arranged.
During November 2014 SDRYT members are travelling on trains between Bishop Auckland , Darlington and Saltburn raising funds for the 2014 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
It is believed that this is the first time that such collections have been carried out on board trains on the National Rail network.
Thanks to Northern for agreeing to this.
